I was hoping to ride this bike at this year’s Eroica festival but now that this has been cancelled, I am reluctantly selling it to make room for other bikes.1978 10 speed vintage Claud Butler road racing bike.22 inch (56cm) frame measured from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube. Not sure what model this is. I’ve searched a number of on line CB catalogues and can never find one exactly the same. Frame number (012586) indicates it was built in 1978. All the components are vintage except for the non drive side crank shaft which I replaced with a new alloy one because there was slight play in the original. I still have the original Stronglight crank if you want it.Forks are Reynolds 531 but there is no Reynolds marking on the frame, so either it isn’t 531 tubing or else the decal has come off. Either way, the frame tubing must be fairly good because the whole bike (as pictured) weighs 26lbs which isn’t too bad for a steel frame. There are quite a few scratches and bare patches on the frame commensurate with its age but it is sound and rust free.It rides well but the gears could do with a bit of fine tuning. The componentry is as follows:Front wheel: Weinmann rim and Normandy hub (36H)Rear wheel: No name on rim (think it might be Weinmann as well) and Normandy hub (36H)Stronglight 100 LX crankshaft and chain rings (52×39)Raleigh rear derailleurShimano Titlist front derailleurSuntour Power down tube shiftersCLB brake leversRaleigh Weinmann 750 centre pull brake (rear)Raleigh Weinmann 610 centre pull brake (front)GB forged stemBrooks saddleNew Schwalbe tyresHappy to answer any questions and to provide additional measurements.Collection only.
