1985 vintage Bianchi Sprint 28c road racing bike. Fully stripped down and reconditioned, with a mix of original, replacement and new parts, ready to ride including the original Bianchi bottle and frame pump.
Frame: 24 inch Tubi Calibrati 1-20 steel frame and forks in classic Celeste green. Some rust patina, mainly on the top tube, and some paint scratches. Decals are original other than the head tube, with a few scratches and fading. No dents or damage on the frame.
Wheels: Original Joytech hubs with smooth bearing and quick release. Rigida alloy rims in great condition with no rust, marks or damage. Brand new Vittoria Zaffiro 25c tyres with new inner tubes.
Drivetrain: Replacement Shimano 600 cranks with no play and bearings smooth. 53/39 chainring, replacement Shimano 105 front and rear derailleur, replacement 7 speed Shimano cassette, new inner and outer cables, original Simplex down tube shifters.
Components: Original Weinmann 500 side pull brakes and pads, plenty of life left in the pads. Original Weinmann levers with new Dia Compe hood, new inner and outer cables. All set up and working well. Original pedals and leather straps, quite a lot of rust on the pedals and the leather is grubby, but spinning freely. Original stem and bars, headset has been re-greased but unfortunately the stem is stuck in the fork so can’t be adjusted. New bar tape with original bar caps. Original Bianchi Selle Italia saddle with no rips, just a little faded and a few marks. Seat post free to move.
Extras: Original Bianchi bottle. A bit grubby and the plastic cap holder has snapped. Original Bianchi frame pump. Still works ok, but the plastic has cracked and been glued and taped, so the plunger isn’t perfectly secure, but this is hidden under the handle.
Overall a gorgeous looking vintage bike. The newer components make it more rideable for everyday use, but it still retains that Eroica look.
Collection ideally, from Southampton or South Oxfordshire, or anywhere on the weekly commute between the two. I can post using a dedicated bike postal service, but it’s quite expensive.
