Bianchi & Campagnolo Kids 9 Speed Road Race Bike Eroica 1980 Restoration Vintage

Beautifully restored genuine Bianchi children’s road race bike from 1980’s.  Correct road bike geometry it looks like a mini version of an adults bike. 

This was my son’s bike and we did hundreds of miles together during summer holidays between his ages of 6 and 10 years (He’s now 5ft 10 at university and needs a new laptop – hence this sale). I used to be a bike mechanic and powder coated frames in Liverpool workshop so take pride in our bikes being in perfect working order.  It is well loved and used so please expect signs of ‘wear and tear’ from general use as seen in the photos.

All parts were either carefully hand sourced by me or original and restored.   I chose lightweight titanium or aluminium components to help little legs keep up on rides out in the Yorkshire Dales and Pembrokeshire lanes.

Genuine Bianchi 7000 aluminium 1980’s children’s frame hand painted, preserving much of the original paintwork.  Added new old stock transfers and retouched original transfers and pinstriping by hand 

·      Campagnolo Veloce 9 speed Ergos (Resprung brake callipers to make child friendly, safe and easy to pull. 1995 version)

·      Fully integrated courier brake levers adjusted for little hands – so kids can stay on the tops – these are discrete and hugely add to the kids safety and confidence – new 2013

·      OEM dual pivot brake callipers – resprung to make it easy for little hands to use. New 2013

·      Bianchi Celeste colour silicon hoods (Hudz) so that kids can rest on the brake hoods without fear of slipping (Really adds to kids confidence when travelling at speed or in traffic). New 2019

All inner and outer gear and brake cables are new, cut and sealed to correct lengths.

·      9 Speed half-titanium cassette (With child friendly ratio to get up hills.)

·      Hand polished Miche 145mm 2×9 crank set (Cotterless. Original 1985 version restored)

·      Titanium square tapered bottom bracket – new 2014

·      French style Miche racing pedals (Will take toe cage or straps and grippy enough to have neither – new 2014)

·      Campagnolo Xenon front (9 speed derailleur – 1989 model)

·      Campagnolo Veloce (9 speed rear derailleur – 1985 model)

·      Campagnolo Record skewers (front and rear – 1986 models)

·      Ambrosio Alloy road hubs and Alloy rims (507x13mm)

o   Bladed spokes (flat not sharp edged – sprayed black (braking surfaces are clean) with Celeste Bianchi decals applied as per original style – 1990 models with new bearings and greased).

·      Hutchinson tires front and rear – semi slick for low rolling resistance and a bit of extra grip when cornering on damp roads.

·      Dedaccia Child specific bars and laser etched stem (like a gem!) – new 2013

·      Bianchi a-head stem cap – original 1985

·      USE lightweight alloy seat post with titanium hardware. 1995

·      Choice of 2 saddles

o   San Marco handmade lightweight Italian child racing saddle in black and white with alloy rails, or

o   Soft comfy saddle in white 

·      Elite bottle cage 

·      Genuine Bianchi drinks bottle (unused)
