BIANCHI PICU-ALU CRONO TRIATHLON / TIME TRIALING BIKE FOR SALE.ALL SET UP WITH SHIMANO 105 SPECIFICATION AND CARBON FORKS, SEAT POST AND NICE HIGH-END QUALITY FITTINGS.THIS IS MY WELL-MAINTAINED AND ASSURINGLY SMOOTH RIDING BIKE FROM CLASSIC ITALIAN MANUFACTURER BIANCHI. I BOUGHT IT A YEAR AGO THINKING I WOULD GET INTO TRAITHLONS BUT HAVE ONLY RIDDEN IT 4 TIMES FOR APPROX 20 MILES EACH JOURNEY AND DECIDED I’LL STICK WITH RUNNING AND COMMUTING ON MY LESS SEXY STANDARD ROADBIKE. (WHO SAID MID-LIFE CRISIS?).OKAY – SO THIS BIKE WOULD BE A GREAT ENTRY POINT FOR SOMEONE GETTING INTO TIME TRIALLING OR TRIATHLON WITHOUT HAVING TO BREAK THE BANK BY MOVING STRAIGHT INTO THE EXPENSIVE 4-FIGURE RANGE.WHILST THE FRAME IS GETTING ON A BIT IN TERMS OF UP TO DATE DESIGN (IT”S 2011-12 SEASON) THERE ARE SOME GREAT DESIGN FLOURISHES THAT PROVIDE AN AERODYNAMIC BENEFIT AND WATTS-SAVINGS FOR THE RIDER LOOKING FOR SPEED. THE BIKE IS SMOOTH AND SWIFT IN RIDE WITH GREAT FEEDBACK FROM THE REAR TRIANGLE AND TACTILE RESPONSE COMING FROM THE TRI-BAR SET UP AT THE FRONT. THE CARBON STREAMLINED FORKS LET IT CUT THROUGH THE FRONT DRAG AND THE BOTTOM BRACKET IS FIXED FOR DIRECT TRANSFER OF POWER. I CAN REALLY FEEL THE POWER TRANSFER COMPARED TO MY ORBEA ROAD BIKE WHICH IS NO SLOUCH.THE CHAINSET IS A COMPACT MODEL WITH 50 / 34 CHAINRINGS. WHILST THIS IS LESS CHALLENGING FOR THE POWERFUL TT RIDERS IT DOES MAKE THE BIKE MUCH MORE MANAGEABLE ON UNDULATING ROADS. TEH DRIVE CHAIN IS SHIMANO 105 5700 IN FINE WORKING ORDER (PIC SHOWS IT DRY – I WILL CLEAN IT AND LUBE IT UP TO JUICE ALL LINKS). PATHETIC REALLY!I BOUGHT IT FROM A CHAP IN CHESHIRE WHO WAS A SERIOUS COLLECTOR OF BIKES (SHOWED ME A COUPLE OF HIS £5K+ ROAD BIKES!). HE BOUGHT THE BIKE IN 2015 FOR A SPARE TIME TRAIL EVENTS BIKE. HE BOUGHT IT SECOND HAND FROM A DEALER IN MANCHESTER WHERE IT HAD BEEN USED FOR 4 TRIATHLONS AND WAS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT NEW IN 2012 FOR £1,300. AS STATED THE SHIMANO 5700 SPEC GROUPSET WAS USED BY BIANCHI BIKES IN THE 2011-12 SEASON RANGE. THE 4 TRIATHLONS UNDERTAKEN PUT JUST UNDER 500 MILES ON THE BIKE. THE CHAP I BOUGHT IT FROM RECORDED HIS RIDES AND WROTE THAT HE USED IT FOR 2 WEEKS OF TRAINING PUTTING ANOTHER 185 MILES ON IT (TO BE PRECISE!) AND THEN HUNG IT UP IN HIS GARAGE WHEN HE THEN BOUGHT A USA CARBON ROAD BIKE. IT WAS THEN THAT I BOUGHT IT. I’VE GENUINELY DONE LESS THAN 100 MILES ON IT SO ALL IN ALL THAT PUTS THE TOTAL MILEAGE ON IT AS AROUND 800 MILES. RIDICULOUS I KNOW BUT NOT EVEN BROKEN IN. IT’S BEEN IN MY GARAGE FOR THE LAST 12 MONTHS SINCE I LAST RODE IT.OTHER INFO FROM THE CHAP I BOUGHT IT FROM WAS THAT HE FITTED THE WHEELS – RODI AIRLINE CLINCHERS. REASONABLY STURDY FOR A RACING WHEEL WITH REDUCED SPOKES OFFERING SOME AERO EFFECT. THE TYRES ARE BASIC LITHIONS, BUDGET TYRES WHICH IS THE ONLY THING ON THE BIKE THAT IS LOW-RANGE LESS THAN HIGH-END QUALITY. HOWEVER THEY ARE QUITE SPEEDY WITH LOW-ROLLING RESISTANCE. CONDITION: IS REALLY VERY GOOD EXCELLENT NICK. NOTHING DETRACTS FROM PERFORMANCE – ALL SOOTH AS YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A SUB-1000 MILE UNIT. SOME SMALL MARKS ON FRAME IN PLACES I.E. A BIT OF MINOR CABLE RUB AND A COUPLE OF MINOR SCUFFS. HEADSET BOLTS HAVE A BIT OF SURFACE RUSTING – THEY CAN SIMPLY BE TAKEN OFF AND BRUSHED DOWN. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICS IT’S IN REALLY CLEAN CONDITION. WAS NEVER OUT IN THE WET EXCEPT ON ONE OF MY SHORT RIDES WHEN I GOT COUGHT IN RAIN. HOWEVER NOTHING HEAVY AND I CLEANED THE FRAME AND COMPONENTS DOWN AND DRIED OFF AS SOON AS I GOT HOME. SO – ALL IN ALL A VERY GOOD INTRO TRIATHLON BIKE. £1,300 NEW. I’M NOT GOING TO GIVE IT AWAY SO HAVE SET A SENSIBLE RESERVE.
