Carrera Epic Mens Vintage 1980’s Road Bike / Racing Bicycle
The bike is a large (57cm) – Ideal for around 5′ 9″ to around 6′ 0″. I am 5′ 11″ and it fits me perfectly.
Comes with Pro Lite Luciano wheels
Also comes with Michelin Pro Race 3 tyres. However, I would advise getting new tyres as the front especially is on its last legs.
Brakes have loads of life left and can stop the bike quick hard with a decent squeeze.
Looks pretty nice for an 80’s bike. There are some obvious signs of age like some stone chips, scratched stickers etc but overall a nice bike.
The lowest gear on the rear cassette has snapped off the cassette so can’t be used. However, I rode it round like it was a single gear bike anyway so it’s never bothered me. Got quoted around £25 to fix it but never bothered.
Unfortunately it appears that the previous owner fitted a seat too large for the post, and it’s very hard to adjust.
The bike has original Carrera handle bar wraps and lever hoods. However, due to the age, the rubber on the hoods has gone a bit gooey. I’ve wrapped some white tape around them to maintain the white theme, but some may wish to actually change the hoods. Tape does the job fine though.
Overall, a nice bike. A pleasure to ride, its a very light bike and has very little rolling resistance, so eats the miles with ease.
