Classic 2004  Trek SL 1400 Road/Race Bike 58cm Full Shimano 105 Groupset, Cinelli, BontragerHere for sale is a Classic 2004 Trek SL 1400 road/race bike in large (58cm).This bike is in beautiful condition and is very original. I bought this bike about 12 years ago now and it was my first road/race bike. In total the bike has done less then 1000 miles since new and the only parts that have been changed were the inner tube and cables (they didn’t need changing but I do it for peace of mind) and the bar tape (Just because I wanted a different colour). The bike has also had a service recently at Lloyds Cycles in Swadlincote and they fitted the new bar tape for it (Cinelli Blue Gel Tape).The ‘SL’ in the title stands for ‘super light’ and that tells you that it is a lightweight racer, only weighing 9 kg. The frame material is ‘Alpha Super Light Aluminium & Custom Butted/Seamless Drawn’. This makes it very light and super responsive. If you stand on the pedals and kick down, it really pulls underneath you and accelerates. I know I sound like a pushy sales man but it does. Hence why I’m in two minds about selling it. The bike also has a full Shimano 105 group set. And I mean full group set derailleurs, brakes, brake/gear levers, jockey wheels, bottom bracket, etc. The wheels are Bontrager 20 spoke front and 24 spoke rear. Bontrager is Treks own sports brand but these wheels are super light and very free running. Wheels and tyres and the first thing to upgrade on a road/race bike, but these are that good it wasn’t worth it. Hence why I never upgraded them while time trailing.The bike it not shown with pedals in the pictures, but it will be sent with some basic non toe clip flat pedals just to get you going. Normally a bike like this would be supplied without pedals as there are several different clip types and the rider would normally have their own. I’m sure I’ve got the original Bontrager toe clip pedals somewhere so I’ll keep looking until the bike is shipped.I do enjoy this bike (if you hadn’t of gathered already). I’m only selling because I could do with the space and its a shame to keep it in shed to only ride it once or twice a year. Plus I’ve now got a Genesis Equilibrium which has mud guard and rack mounts, which suits my style more plus its the exact same geometry as my off road bike (Genesis Day One). I always get people asking about it at bike shops or on club rides. So if it doesn’t sell, then I will just keep it. It will be sent with a currier 2 to 3 days after payment has been received.
