Cube Peloton CL Race Road Bike, Carbon Forks, Upgraded Ultegra components, Superlight 8.3kg. 54cmI have included an online review of this bike at the end of this description. They gave it a 10/10 and 9/10 for every category, however this bike has been significantly upgraded (9 out of the 10 specifications in the review have been upgraded on this bike with only the frame being as original). This has brought the bike which was an amazing 8.8kg in the review down to a super light 8.3kgThis is a Cube Peloton CL RFR (Ready For Race) on a 54cm frame. I have ridden it (5’7″) and it was just perfect for me. I would suggest this bike is realistically suitable for someone between 5’6″ and 5’11” obviously depending on your personal preference and riding style. Very happy to entertain any viewings before bidding and will happily assist in sizing the bike for the winning bidder. (Yes I can size a bike correctly even with 2 metres social distancing)I have taken the bike out for a 5 mile run and it rides perfectly, very light and quick with really smooth gear changes (it does have Ultegra shifters so would expect nothing less), brakes are sharp and overall this is a very impressive bike. Gear changes on the bike are quick and crisp, the Ultegra/105 groupset on the bike (pics 3,4,and 5) is a superb groupset aimed at a higher end of the market. The vast majority of bikes for sale at around this price will have one of the much lower specification groupsets (Tiagra or Sora) fitted, the latest range of Specialised Allez bike have the even lower Claris groupset fitted and yet still retails at above £700!As this bike is a compact crankset it comes with 20 gears in total, with such a wide range that the lower gear ranges will get you up the steepest of hills before changing up the highest range of gears to propel you down the other side. Many of these bikes will have the 8 or 9 speed rear cassette fitted but this has the full Shimano Ultegra/105 10 speed groupset. Everything on this bike is in great condition. The bike also has carbon forks (pic 7). These help reduce vibration transferring up to the bars and then onto the hands and wrists, making longer rides even more comfortable and reducing ‘numb hand’ syndrome. The bike has a Concept stem (pic 8) and the seatpost has been upgraded to an FSA K-Force Carbon Fibre. You can even move the seat stem up and down on this bike (sounds stupid I know but you wouldn’t believe how many people have brought me in bikes they have just bought on eBay with the seat stem ‘welded’ into the seat post at completely the wrong height for them). There can be so many pitfalls when you buy used!Worst case I have seen was a very nice looking bike sold on eBay that came with a £290 bill the following week for the new owner to get the bike shop to replace all cables, rear mech, cassette, chain, brake pads and tyres just to get the bike back to a usable state. This is of course still a used bike and will have marks on it. I have included high resolution pics (pics 8, 9 and 10 are as close as I could focus) so you can judge these for yourself before bidding or, as previously mentioned, any viewing before bidding is most welcome. The best bit on this bike is that the wheels which have been upgraded to the superb Colnago Artemis wheels both fitted with Colnago hubs (pic6), both are virtually new, seem to spin forever and are straight and true, they really are a great set of wheels to pair with this bike. This is not a bike that has been pulled out of the garage after many years, given a polish and chucked on eBay, this is a bike that has been fully serviced with any necessary parts replaced and is ready for many years of enjoyment for its new owner. I think (pic 9) gives a good indication of how clean and tidy this bike is and the first two pictures show how it looks from 2 metres (the closest anyone is allowed to get to you).Pic 12 shows a small range of the bikes I have in stock and available, some will already be listed on eBay, with others to follow after they have been checked, serviced and made ready for their new winning bidder owners. If you have any specific requirements for your new bike, feel free to contact me and I will happily ensure that the one you are after is the next one to be completed and listed on eBay.Pedals, as always, are not included however I am happy to provide and install a pair of traditional flat pedals to the winning bidder for free, or I have a range of SPD, SPD-SL or LOOK pedals which I can provide for a small additional cost. Feel free to contact me if you need any advice on the pedal choices available, you may notice from my feedback that I am always happy to assist. The auction is collection only, from near Ashford in Kent (TN26). Viewings before bidding are always very welcome, in fact I would highly recommend it. Please contact me to book or if you need any further info.Feel free to check my feedback as a seller, I have posted the last few transactions at the end of this description, and if you do win this auction, your honest feedback will also be most appreciated! In turn I will of course leave feedback thanking you for your purchase. For the Winning bidder: I am very flexible on collection times and days. Once completed please let me know when you would like to collect and it will be very likely that I can accommodate. Good luck and Happy Bidding. FeedbackGreat bike pleasure to ride, seller extremely helpful very pleased thank you !!!Dolan Vittoria Road Bike ITM Carbon Forks with full 105 GroupsetExcellent item, the seller could not have been more helpful,Boardman CB Competition Road Bike with Carbon Forks and Ritchey Wheelset 54cmVery helpful and professional service from Barry. If I’m honest, the Boardman has since eclipsed it in the image stakes, but it’s still a fine looking machine. It’s even finer when you look at the spec sheet: a complete 105 groupset, Mavic Aksium wheels and excellent finishing kit. Like the Boardman, the frame is a fairly traditional affair by modern standards. It’s a compact shape — the top tube slopes down from front to back, with rounded, though not all perfectly round, tubes used throughout. As you might expect, in this test there are sweet details like internal cable routing and the down tube is particularly interesting, going from almost round to something approaching a Colnago-style cloverleaf at the bottom bracket. This, in theory, should add strength.Because of its quality, this is the bike I’ve been waiting to ride. But sometimes that can be a poisoned chalice; if it disappoints, it’s an even more galling experience. But the Cube does not disappoint. On the road, it lives up to all its promises. There’s a similar eager temperament to that which we found with the Boardman, a head-down enthusiasm slightly missing from the other two bikes on test. And that’s teamed with great, razor-sharp handling. You can flick the bike into bends at speed and it clings on. As with most really fun bikes, it seems to behave better the faster you goStopping isn’t an issue either. It’d be interesting to compare the performance of the 105 calipers to that of Avid discs in normal road conditions; in the dry, they’re superb. As on the Fuji, the 105 gearset works fine.So it’s a quick, direct bike that rewards confident control and power input, but there’s another nice surprise. Perhaps unexpectedly, given the core of the bike has so much in common with the Boardman, it matches the Merida and Fuji with a 34×32 smallest gear set-up. That means, in theory, you can climb as casually as the best of them. In fact, the only area where it loses out, and then only just, is with comfort: a tad more road feedback gets through to the rider than with the Fuji.Wheel dealsOne important point to raise concerns the Mavic Aksium wheelset. Few manufacturers — with the notable exception of Giant — fit great wheels on complete bikes at this end of the market, but the Aksiums and the Aksion tyres here are very impressive and feel of higher quality than the other hoops in this test.I liked the finishing kit too, particularly the Cube Wing Race bars. I know opinions are mixed on wing-shaped bars, but as part of a whole package, there’s something rather satisfying about getting a good hold of something firm and chunky, utterly confident the bike will do what you want. It’s like wrapping your fingers round a leather-wrapped steering wheel in a sports car.VerdictSo did the Cube live up to expectations? Absolutely. In fact, I’d go further: it’s almost sub-£1,000 cycling perfection. Of course, you can always hanker after a better groupset, or better components, or a carbon frame. But in the real world, from a mainstream manufacturer, you can’t ask for much more than this.DetailsFrameset: Double-butted aluminium with carbon forkGears: Shimano 105 10-speed shifters and mechs (Upgraded to Ultegra Shifters on this bike)Chainset: Shimano 105 compact 50/34 (Upgraded to Ultegra Chainset on this bike)Brakes: Shimano 105 (Upgraded to Ultegra/Sram on this bike)Wheels: Mavic Aksium S (Upgraded to Colnago Artemis on this bike)Bars: Cube Wing Race (Upgraded to Deda Bars on this bike)Stem: Cube Performance Pro (Upgraded to Concept Stem on this bike)Saddle: Selle Italia X1 Road (Upgraded to Fabric Saddle on this bike)Seatpost: Cube Performance aluminium (Upgraded to a Carbon FSA K-Force on this bike)Weight: 8.8kg (All the upgrades bring the weight down to 8.3kg)
