Focus Cayo carbon road racing bike, size medium/54cm, with full internal cable routing.
I bought this bike ‘virtually brand new’ around four years ago for my then 12-year-old son to race on. He used it for two seasons, his brother used it for two seasons, now it’s too small (he’s nearly 6ft).
As it was for racing, I swapped over a lot of the components as soon as we got the bike. I’ve shown the bike built up ‘as raced’ in the final picture. To sell, I’ve returned the original components to the bike.
The set up now is:
Shimano 105 10-speed shifters and derailleurs. Focus Concept Cex brakes, stem, bars. Focus seat post. FSA cranks. Mavic Aksium wheelset. KMC gold chain.
Please note the bike doesn’t come with saddle, bar tape or pedals (although I have flat plastic ones if you need them). It’s also fitted with a 48-tooth front chainring to comply with youth racing gears, but I’ll include the 50-tooth chainring it came fitted with.
Although the bike was being ridden normally until very recently, there are a few things I need to point out as I want to be totally honest about the condition.
Repair to right seat stay
This was carried out about three years ago. Another rider rolled into the back of my son during a training session and his handlebars cracked the right seat stay. It was repaired by the Carbon Wizard in Exmouth. We chose not to have the repair painted, but instead covered it in black vinyl wrap – which was virtually unnoticeable against the black paintwork. I only uncovered the repair to photograph for this listing.
Crack in the left seat stay
I didn’t know this was there until I created this listing. Not long after we bought the bike, it fell over in the garden, lifting and chipping off a tiny piece of clear coat and paintwork. I immediately covered this with small piece of black electrical tape and thought nothing more of it. When I removed the tape to take pictures, another piece of paint came away exposing the crack. I don’t know how long the crack has been there. I’ve shown it as clearly as I can in the pictures. I’d estimate it goes a quarter to a third of the way around the tube. I’d imagine it just requires patching, but I’m no carbon expert.
Various chips
As with any used bike, there are a couple of places where the clear coat has chipped or lifted. I’ve tried to show these in the pictures. There’s also rubbing and scratching on the cranks and rear mech, but nothing out of the ordinary.
TyresThe wheels have sat unused in the shed for a number of years so the tyres are beginning to crack in places. I’d advise changing these. This has been a really great bike, and I’ve been as honest and detailed as I can in the description and the pictures. If you have any questions, just ask. I’d far prefer collection in person from Ottery St Mary in Devon as I don’t have any way to get a bike box, and I’d prefer you to see what you’re buying. I can box up for your courier if you’d like, but only if you supply the box. Please don’t bid/offer unless you can actually get to Devon. Also advertised elsewhere.
