You are bidding on a 1970’s classic gents PEUGEOT Sport racing bike (racer), as shown in the photos. I have called it “Sport” because that is what’s written on the frame. The bike is complete but currently a non-runner and is being sold for restoration or spares. I am the owner of the bike and I bought it second hand in about 1990. I rode it now and then for several years, but then it started throwing the chain off. I bought another chain but it still did it so for the last twenty years it has just been stored inside the house. I would love to see it going down the road again in the hands of an enthusiast. The condition is good, but the paint has various scratches and marks here and there. When I got the bike one front fork had been bent and re-straightened, but the bike was rideable so I left it. The bike is in virtually the exact, original condition as when I bought it. The only things I have done are add some small, sport mudguards and rear reflector as both these items were missing. These were got off a couple of scrap bikes many years ago at Gardner’s Scrap Yard, Dove Holes, and so are from the correct era. I also changed the saddle to a soft one from Argos, and fitted a bolt-on handlebar mirror. I believe I can include the original, hard plastic saddle but the mounting bracket is not present. I am about 5 foot 9 inches, and with the saddle at its lowest the bike is a perfect height. I measured part of the frame from pedals to gear levers and I think it said 23 inches. The bike colour is a deep metallic cherry red, and the frame is lightweight. It still has the original shop dealer sticker on it. I think the bike is a 10 speed, although it could be 12. It also has a quick-release front wheel and novel, centre-pull brakes. Tyre size is 27 inch one and a quarter. This bike would be great for the increasingly popular L’Eroica classic bike race events, and I really hope someone can put it back on the road where it belongs. The bike is collection only as it is too big and expensive to post. However, I live in Buxton, High Peak, which is only one hour’s drive from Manchester, Stoke, Derby or Sheffield areas. Any inspection welcome by prior arrangement.
