Giant TCR Advanced SL1 Carbon Fibre Road Race Bike Medium Dura Ace. Condition is used.
This is a top-of-the-range racing bike from Giant which has been my best bike since 2011. I have the receipt from the 1st owner, showing it was bought new for £4,500 in 2009.
It’s had light use in the summer only and has been well maintained and loved. I replaced the original wheels with a lightweight Shimano RS80 C24 Carbon / Alloy set in 2013. These are set up and running successfully tubeless so you don’t have to do anything! The aluminium braking surface is superior to carbon but the main hoops are carbon to keep the weight low.
Dura Ace gears, chainset (53/39), brakes, levers. Carbon bars.
This bike is light! It’s responsive yet comfortable with razor-sharp handling. It’s the one the pro teams used in the major tours and has the integrated seat pillar for lightness and comfort. The height can be adjusted with shims, different heights of bracket or cutting with a specialised cutting guide – all included. I’m 5’10 for reference and there’s movement with the extended seat bracket (not currently fitted) for an extra 25mm and with spacers, even more. (See the photo)
It has picked up a few scratches in its lifetime from walls outside cafes etc, could use some new brake lever hoods and probably tyres at some point next year but has never been crashed and looks amazing – the photos don’tdo it justice! I also put helicopter tape over the rear chain stay, around the bottom bracket and steerer tube.
I’m replacing it with another Giant TCR with disc brakes; which is heavier! I normally replace my bikes every 3 years but loved this one too much and held on to it!
