Merida Road Race 750 Road Bike, Alloy, 48cm, Campy/shimano 9s, Superb Condition

Posted on February 23, 2021

For sale is a Merida Road Race 750 alloy road bike, built up from parts by a professional mechanic from spare parts I wasn’t otherwise going to use. Most of the parts are secondhand, but the frame and forks are in excellent condition, wheels are virtually new, as are tyres. There are no pedals, but I can supply a choice at cost (flats, with or without toe clips or SPD or Look-style clipless). The frame tubes have been shaped to give a comfortable ride, while maintaining direct power transfer from the cranks to the rear wheel. It has a 48cm seat tube (ctr-top) and the top tube (virtual/horizontal) is 53cm ctr-ctr. The head tube is 12cm.Handlebars are currently exceptionally narrow 36cm ctr-ctr, suitable for a smaller (younger?) rider with narrower shoulders. Saddle height is currently set at 67cm (ctr BB to top), but could go as low as 60cm. I would say that this would be suitable for a ride from around 5’3″ to about 5’6″.There are no fittings for mudguard or rack. It might be possible to fit a set of racer-style clip-on guards (I have these if needed) and I believe there’s enough clearance for 28mm tyres without guards.Component spec is good, but slightly unusual – it’s a Shimergo set-up. The Campagnolo Ergo levers are Veloce 10s and new, but, while these are paired with Centaur 10s Front Derailleur and a Veloce 10s Rear Derailleur, it matches up with a Shimano 9s HG cassette, by virtue of a non-standard mounting of the shift cable at the rear derailleur (it is clamped on the “wrong” side of the pinch bolt to ensure the levers pull the correct amount of cable to match the spacing between the Shimano sprockets)Other component highlights would include:Selle Italia saddleShimano Ultegra 53/39 170mm chainset (with the old-style 5-bolt chainrings, much cheaper to replace than more current models)New Shimano chainPanaracer Pasela 25mm tyres (with Protite belt)Rapide 700c clincher wheels (24/28 spokes)Note that, as with any of the bikes I’m selling, the contact points (stem,
saddle, seatpost, handlebars and pedals) can all be swapped with
alternatives from a selection to suit and many options are equivalent price-wise.I
am making the auction collection only as I much prefer to meet any
potential buyer to make sure the bike fits and that the salient points
for service and maintenance are understood. I am willing to box the bike
up for courier collection as a last resort. Bike is in N. London.Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Do take a look at my other auctions
