Raleigh Elan racing bike.From the late 80’s I think.Bought as a donor bike for parts a few years back but it looked in too good original condition, so I left it at the back of the shed untouched.In great condition for its age.All original parts except seat (Fec alloy (Selle Italia?) in ok but not great condition) and tyres (Vittoria Pro Team Tecno TT – these alone go for 40 quid used on ebay and are 60+ new old stock).Even has original reflectors from new, Shimano SIS cables and brake blocks from new and toe clips and Lapize straps (which tend to go missing on these bikes).Full Shimano Exage groupset which runs great – indexed gears work and brakes are strong. Biopace chainset.Alesa 613 rims with clean stainless steel eyelets. Front wheel is true, rear wheel is slghtly out but not by too much.Also includes working Cateye computer which has speed, distance, trip, time, and clock. May need a new new battery soon as I took an old one from my scales. I had to move sensor on fork nearer to wheel to pick up the magnet but new battery would probably solve that.Tyres have been flat for a long while but pumped up and rode round block ok when I test rode it for half a mile or so.Frame is Reynolds 501 double butted which sits between 531c and 531st in terms of wall thickness. It has a nice compliant yet stiff fast ride.Concealed rear brake cable.No rust anywhere as far as I can see. Any black bits are dried oil from an over zealous oiling of the chain I think?Original Raleigh chainstay guard under chain looks in good condition for its age too.Probably one of the best on the market?Some stickers are slightly showing their age but not overly so.Can only increase in value in this condition?I have a large bike box ready for it. Post is included in price.One stay has a few marks and the seat pin is scratched from where someone hasn’t loosened the seat bolt enough before adjusting (it actually moves very freely once loosened properly as does the stem).Left hand pedal is missing its rear reflector (they are bolt on anyway).
