Raleigh Sirocco 12 from 1984 in XL ( 63cm , centre crank to top seat tube , 58cm centre head tube to centre seat tube ). Gloss cherry red paint .
This is the rarer model now , comes before the later version with the white and red frame . Dated to 1984 through research .
I’ve owned it for around 10yrs , stripped and new parts sourced to rebuild at the time . Used rarely as a summer trainer / fun bike, given Raleighs rubbish paint , never wanted it to go rusty ( some v minor rusting nothing tin foil wouldn’t get rid of ) . I’ve loved this thing , kept dry , in tip top running condition and will be sadly missed .
Some of the original spec :
Frame Reynolds 501 tubing , matching Fork.
Suntour ARX front and rear Mechs with matching Suntour downtube shifters.
Stronglight double chain set
Suntour 6sp freewheel
Weinmann 600 side pull brakes
Weinmann 700c rims on Maillard hubs.
Original paint and decals , few marks but it’s 36 yrs old, nothing that compromises the frame or fork integrity.
Bearings are all good , even the bottom bracket is original , wheels could do with a slight true but you’d be a bit wonky at 36 if you were a bike ! Still spin and don’t rub the brake blocks. Chainring teeth are a tell tale sign of use , hardly any wear , still the sporting the original teeth profile I would suggest .
New parts fitted this week ready for sale , Deda bar tape , new brake inner and outers. Last 12 months , headset , gear cables , brake hoods .
Following non production parts :
Cinelli bars and stem ( upgrade due to wanting a wider bar , now 42 c-c ), original bars can be supplied .
Tyres – now Continental GP4000, fast tyre !
Saddle – SDG circuit.
No pedals included .
This is an awesome retro ride , it’s a wonderful thing ,rides wonderfully and has many many more years on it yet .
Great summer fun pub bike .
These retro Raleighs in good condition can only go up in value !
