Raleigh Scorpio restored! I used this many years ago as a fixie and then the frame has been stored for in the garage but due to a clear out I thought I might as well build it up as I had kept the original parts.
Professionally rebuilt and serviced. I am a bike mechanic so you should feel confident riding this bike and that it is completely safe. (And most likely serviced better than new bikes at this price)
I’m 6ft tall and that’s where I have the seat in these photos so you can fit this if you’re a bit smaller but it’s a 60cm seat tube.
New chain and 6spd freewheel fitted.
Derailleur, front mech and chain set completely stripped, cleaned and rebuilt.
New gear and brake cables inner and outer
New bar tape
Weinmann brake callipers – these were from a bsa road bike exactly the same as the originals except in gold.
Hub services on both wheels and wheels trued. 1 spoke was replaced on the rear wheel. These literally have no resistance and spin forever I was quite surprised.
Shimano Brake levers front plastic has cracked due to them being around 40 years old but that can easily be replaced. The levers are better than the originals they are sprung and solid.
Bontrager tyres. Rear is a more heavy duty puncture proof than the front but they are both the same model.
You’ll notice the stickers were removed and the main Raleigh logo unfortunately has been torn on one side. Another thing you may or may not notice is I sanded down the grey paint off the head tube to reveal the purple undercoat, nice touch and makes it a bit more fancy. The grey they use on this frame is super easy to take off if you use wet and dry method so you can Easily have a nice purple frame. I did go a bit over the top on the wet and dry when I did it ages ago and some the grey has been removed underneath the down tube (should be photographed)
I’ve had a few issues with the rear shifter but I think it’s the way I assembled it that it isn’t quite holding the tension correctly. I will try and solve this before the bike is sold.
Bike will need to be assembled if being posted. Handlebars, wheels, pedals and saddle will be removed.
