Classic Claud Butler Dalesman touring bike – Road / Touring / Racing Bicycle – this bike has been used by me to do the odd cyclo-cross race, club run, touring ride with panniers, ride with the kids in a rear carrier and most recently my short shuttle commuter bike. It is a do-it all and great for anyone who wants a machine to munch up the miles.Solid Reynolds tubing not some non-descript scaffold pole stuff 🙂 Frame size is large – I am 6’1 and it would suit I’d say 5’9 upwards.I’ve had it for a fair few years so it is not in perfect condition and I’ve tried my best to reflect that in the photos. There are a couple of very minor spots on the frame showing a tiny speck of rust. That said, the greenish colour scheme has flecks of shiny stuff which really pops in the sunshine.The gearing is Shimano Deore 9 speed rear with a triple at the front (27 gears no less). I’ve upgraded the wheels from the original touring type to a faster slimmer profile currently shod in Conti tyres. I’ve left on the luggage rack and rear mudguard. Also included are the road shimano pedals – you can easily swap out for flat pedals if you wish.It has the really useful handlebar mounted brakes (CX style) together with the gear change/brake lever combo.This bike is in well loved condition with commensurate scuffs. it probably needs some new tyres and a new 9 speed chain and new bar tape wouldn’t go amiss. Other than that the bottom bracket feels nice and smooth as does the headset, the wheel bearings feel fine. Otherwise it is good to go. Basically, the frame is smart and if you wanted to upgrade the groupset it would make an excellent workhouse bike.I’d prefer lock down compliant safe collection from Reading or South Oxfordshire. Happy to meet somewhere reasonably close at my discretion.
