Here we have an excellent example of the Scott CR1 Comp Road bike. It has been well looked after and that shows in its condition. It has upgraded wheels making a seriously light bike, even lighter.
The CR1 started out as SCOTT’s pro-level, race ready machine but then had a redesign to give it a more forgiving geometry and make it all day comfortable for everyday riders. It features a shock dampening system in the rear triangle to help soak up vibrations from the road. Together with the carbon fibre seatpost and taller front end this bike will really help you eat up the miles.
The Wheels are Mavic Ksyrium Equipe S, which cost the previous owner around £390 when bought new. They are light, fast and weigh just over 1600 grams for the pair.
The groupset is full Shimano 105 meaning shifting is quick and precise. It has a compact 50/34 Chainset and a Shimano 105 Cassette with a gear range of 11-28 teeth. The standard “Comp” comes with a Tiagra Front Mech but this bike has had an upgraded 105 fitted at some point.
The tyres are Continental GP4000’s, which are widely regarded as the best all round clincher tyre on the market. I’ve run these tyres myself for the last 10 years and I love them. Fast, great in all weathers and excellent puncture protection. They’re not cheap though so they add to the excellent value of this bike.
I’ve just serviced the bike and put on a new saddle and some fresh bar tape for the new owner. The headset bearings were a little rough so I’ve just installed brand new top/bottom bearings and applied fresh grease. It now has silky smooth steering. The brake pads have plenty of rubber left so this bike is ready to hit the road this weekend in total confidence.
