This Scott Speedster 40 belongs to colleague of my wife’s. I believe it is a 2011 model and comes with the original owner’s manual, two bottle cages, Shimano SPD-SL pedals and a new set of cleats for those pedals.It will make a great first road bike or training bike for someone who already rides fairly seriously. Fast and responsive, yet still forgiving enough to be comfortable over longer distances, the aluminium frame is of high enough quality to justify upgrading components as necessary (or just if you fancy it!).The gentleman in question bought it on the Cycle to Work scheme, and has never found time to use it as much as he intended. In its eight years, he guesses it’s done roughly five hundred miles. The drivetrain has next to no wear; the brake pads look unused and the cables are all still fresh. However, long years in storage left the old, once-white bar tape looking decidedly ropey, so I have replaced it with new Prologo padded tape.175mm Truvativ IsoFlow cranks offer 50/34 chainrings, and an 11-28 tooth cassette out back allows maximised climbing ability. Shifting is handled via Shimano Sora shifters and front mech, while a Shimano Tiagra mech handles things out back. The shifters can be switched from double to triple chainring compatibility in case you wanted to customise the bike. Scott branded brakes look after slowing facilities and the Alex wheels are cod with Continental 23mm tyres. Bars, stem, seatpost and Saddle are all either Scott or Syncros (Scott’s component brand) labelled.Please ask if you have any further queries, I’ll respond as quickly as I can.
