Here we have for sale a beautiful 2006 Trek ALPHA SL 1200 Road Racing Bike
This was an award winning bike of its time which weighs just over 9kg
Trek is an iconic American bike brand which have been ridden to victory by many of the greatest names in cycling over the years & are beautifully designed & built.
This is in superb condition & is mechanically perfect having just had a full (Gold) strip & service using top quality Mobil XHP 222 marine grease (worth £150 alone) by myself (an expert bike mechanic, see last picture) & has had new headset bearings, bottom bracket refurb, brand new anti puncture tyres, new brakes, wheel bearings, gear cable & pedals fitted.
Equipment wise it comes with excellent Shimano Tiagra STI shifters which work beautifully, high power Miche performance dual pivot brakes with Shimano Tiagra front & rear mechs (the shifting is superb) & a high quality Bontrager finishing kit (bars,seat,seatpost & stem) & good quality sealed bearing pedals which all adds up to a great package which is excellent value for money.
The bike benefits from having a fully degreased drivetrain & chain which has been hot wax/PTFE dipped which unlike oil stops all the gunk build up, chainring tattoos & prevents premature drivetrain wear due to chain oil mixing with grit & turning into a grinding paste.
The bike has super light Alpha, custom butted, seamless drawn aluminium frame tubing, carbon fibre aero forks, carbon fibre seatpost & beautiful double wall Bontrager Select wheels which have a very distinctive spoke pattern & offset spoke bed technology which run true & tight with brand new high quality Michelin Dynamic Sport anti puncture fast rolling tyres fitted.
The frame size is 54cm- 21” medium which has traditional racing geometry giving outstanding agility. The bike rides beautifully & wants for nothing, you won’t be disappointed & will not find a better example rest assured.
It has a 12-26 cassette & 53-39-170 Bontrager chain set with a super stiff & smooth ISIS Drive bottom bracket which is geared for great climbing ability mixed amazing speed on the flats (if you have the legs of course).
Every bike which goes through my workshop is subject to a vigorous 10 mile road test to ensure perfect performance & reliability so you can buy with complete confidence.
I can supply & fit a set of reflectors & a bell for this bike at no extra cost if required (just ask).
For an additional £15.00 I can also supply a block of paraffin wax/PTFE mix so you never need to oil the chain again (you will need a slow cooker to do the hot wax dip) or you can go back to using oil if you wish.
This would make a great gift for someone wanting to get into racing bikes or would be a superb & reliable fast commuter / delivery bike.
