Selling on behalf of a friend.This custom painted (by himself) 1980’s Viking road racing made from Reynolds 531 steel. For decades the bike has had a long life with plenty of use, so a few years ago it was thoroughly and fully restored to fully cosmetic and functional ability. Then frame and forks were repainted in a very cool and striking gloss paint scheme, metallic midnight blue, VW deep orange and bright white. The frame had no rust issues prior to painting and condition of it is still almost as fresh since the restoration. Unfortunately the bike was never ridden since restoration and has been kept covered in a dry shed ever since. Minor chips and scratches to the paintwork are the main cosmetic issues and have occurred since being in storage. All the original components were restored to as best as possible working condition. Most are chromed but have plenty of signs of surface rust. New brake and gear cables and housings were installed. The gears all work well, despite being downtube friction shifters. Chain is almost new. The brakes work as they should, albeit they do not perform as well as modern day caliper rim brakes. Brake pads have plenty of life left. The wheels are probably only component probably worthy of upgrading. Both wheels spin freely and the freewheel works fine. However, there is plenty of surface rust and rough patches on the chrome rims. The rear wheel has a slightly wobble which glances the rear brake pads. The hub bodies and spokes all show signs of surface rust. New Schwalbe tan wall tires were fitted with Continental inner tubes and are all as new and unused. Fresh Odi white bar tape was fitted but does not look quite as crisp as when new.
