Vintage 1982 Raleigh Road Ace, Road Racing Bike, Shimano dura-ace ax upgrades, this is my father inlaws bike that he has asked me to list for him, i have had to do quite a bit of research to find details out of the bike and after some great advice from guys on a vintage bike forom i think we are about there so here we go,
From the information given to me
The bike started life as a 1982 Raleigh Road Ace AX, fitted with Shimano 600AX equipment throughout but have since been upgraded to Dura-Ace AX items, The frame is Reynolds 531c throughout,
The bike although the serial number starts with a W would have been built at the Raleigh Lightweight Division plant in Nottingjngham, not at Worksop, which had closed by 1981. The LWD at Nottingham continued to prefix frame numbers with a “W” as they had been at Worksop.

Mavic GP4 700C wheels
Shimano Dura-ace ax brake levers, calipers, derailleurs 2 x 6
Shimano Biopace 2 speed crank
Shimano Dura-ace ax bars and stem
Shimano ax hubs
Vittoria kevlar tubeless tyres the rear has a puncture but stays up enough for a test ride
Shimano 600ax shifters
With the rear tyre sorted the bike is fully rideable and looks great as it is but understand that fanatics will want to service etc
