Vintage 1990s Raleigh Elan road racing bike with Reynolds steel frame. Fully stripped down and refurbished, everything is original other than the tyres, saddle, cables, bar tape and brake hoods.
Frame: Reynolds 501 steel frame in original white with original green decals. 21 inch (medium) frame. No dents or damage, but some rust patches which have been cleaned up as best I can, and treated, mainly on the top tube and near the bottom bracket. Decals are in generally great condition, with slight fading and a couple of scratches on a couple. Forks are in beautiful condition. Original bottle cage.
Drivetrain: Biopace 52/40 ‘oval’ chainring. Shimano Exage front and rear mech, Shimano Sport LX indexed down tube shifters, Exage pedals with toe clips and white rubber straps, all original. New cables. Everything is is beautiful condition, looking great and shifting perfectly, with no play in the bottom bracket.
Components: Original Shimano Exage brakes and levers, with new Dia Compe white hoods and bar tape. New cables. Working perfectly and looking great. Original Sakae FX stem and Raleigh bars. Selle San Marco Concor replacement seat. Some fading at the back, but no rips or tears on the leather. Headset is smooth with no play.
Wheels: Original anodised rims with Exage hubs, running smooth and true in great condition. Some rust on the quick release levers. Modern 700×23 Schwalbe Lugano tyres with loads of life left in them and good inner tubes.
Overall, it’s a really good looking bike with well made, original components, in ready to ride condition.
