Vintage Raleigh Pursuit Racing Bike
Authentic restoration project preserving most original
components and paintwork from this (est.) mid 1980’s racing bike. Fully
stripped, cleaned, serviced, polished and re-assembled.
23” frame in metallic black using 18-23 tubing; all original
paintwork with some touching-up – visible on close inspection. Frame fully polished.
Est. suitable for rider height between 5’8”-6’1”.
Original decals except on forks where replacements were
sourced.
Brand new YST bottom bracket. Brand new Tange-Seiki Levin
CDS headset. These are the only ‘new’ components but are in keeping with the
original specification and are the work-horses of the bike, so sensible to
replace.
All metal-work polished to restore original shine: ‘Custom’
crank & crank arms, stem, handlebars, ‘Weinmann’ side-pull brake calipers, ‘Weinmann’
brake levers, wheels and derailleurs. Original front and rear reflectors.
Front and rear derailleurs (Sachs-Huret) stripped and
serviced, plus new replacement chain.
New replacement brake and gear cables, plus outers.
Replacement brake pads. Brake calipers and levers stripped and serviced.
25mm x 700c wheels (rear steel, front alloy) polished and both
hubs (Maillard) serviced with new bearings. Front wheel ‘quick-release’ skewer replaced
with a brand new one per original specification. New replacement spoke
protector, tubes and Michelin tyres. Original wheel spoke reflectors. 5-speed
original freewheel (10-speed bike).
Original Selle Royal saddle, re-upholstered in white.
New handlebar tape; thicker than original tape to give a
fuller/surer gripping surface.
Authentic replacement pedals – Shimano PD-550 aero pedals
(polished, stripped and serviced) with chrome toe-clips and brand new
Christophe leather straps, in white.
Finished with original frame mounted tyre pump and a bottle
cage.
This bike is over 30 years old, so restored
condition using original components reflects age – great example of a 1980’s
classic. Nothing impacting functioning of the bike – ready for riding.
