A refurbished & fully serviced Vintage Junior Raleigh Race 47 Road Bike. The wheels were badly rust damaged so i rebuilt them with NEW Alloy rims NEW tyres. I changed the hubs from the rusty steel ones to some more upto date alloy ones. These really help to keep the overall weight of the bike down.I decided against a full re-spray. The paint wasn’t great but once i cleaned it up & sprayed a clear lacquer it started to look a lot better! It is original & i think it wears it age scars quite well. I replaced the pedals & saddle with new & also installed new bar tape. The brake levers are new old stock and are specifically designed for a smaller junior road bike like this. The levers & the brake calipers polished up really nice & look terrific on the bike.All the oily bits are oiled & all the greasy bits greased so it rides & stops well & it changes gear pretty well too. It might need a further bit of fettling to get it “just so”. Its a small sized bike so would suit a youngster around 5 foot though I reckon 2-4 inches either side of this would fit a rider. There is plenty of reach left on the seat post & the bars. The frame while it measures quite small has a nice long seat post so will suit quite a few rider heights.This is a great bike with a nice stance and a more than acceptable overall appearance. There are a few marks & scrapes to the paint but non that spoil the overall look of the bike. It will no doubt offer a new owner a safe comfortable ride for general use like going to shops/school/college.I also offer bike servicing/restoration from £20 (a full stripdown & re-build) + any extra parts.
