Raleigh ROMANA 1970s Vintage Racing/Road BikeI’m selling my gorgeous Raleigh Romana 5 speed racer from circa 1976.Mixte style 18-23 steel frame which has a very distinctive cool and vintage twin-stay look – I am 5ft6 and fits great It has a matching mauve chainring alloy cover which is useful for keeping trousers oil-freeOriginal Sachs Huret rear gear mechanismThe wheels are chrome 27 x 1 ¼The handlebars are polished alloy with some lovely vintage engraving around the stem (Raleigh branding)Original kickstandIt was restored from its original condition in 2016 by the amazing Teddy Bingle’s Cyclery (Bristol) and has been well used since then:Restoration included:New brake cabling and padsNew Schwalbe Delta Cruiser whitewall tyres to imitate the original Vredestein ones and inner tubes New handlebar tape to match original leather seatNew vintage style front and rear mudguards to match vintage era styleNew rear rack New metal pedals in-keeping with bike’s lookThe bike has not been used since mid 2017 but has been stored indoors safe and dry. Unfortunately, it is no longer in pristine condition but for the right person who wants to restore it, it wouldn’t be such a big job / a full service at a bike shop to get it back to full working order.IMPORTANT Current Condition:The frame paintwork (mauve/burgundy & white) and stickers are in fair condition – there are now lots of scratches and signs of use (I have tried to picture but please get in touch if you would like further details or pics)The mudguards and rear rack are no longer in perfect condition – some dents marks – could do with a metal polish to bring them upThe chromework on the wheels is a bit pitted and could be polished upThe original white real leather saddle is in reasonably good condition – very comfy but some marks/scratches and stainsThe matching handlebar tape has a few nicks and stains and is held in place with newer white tape, these could be easily replaced!!! BOTH TYRES are currently flat and it looks like the rear tyre will need replacing as large cracks have appeared which has maybe resulted in punctures !!!To my knowledge there are no other issues and rode like a dream the last time it was used but as mentioned earlier, the bike will need a full service.I hope she goes to a lovely new home as I no longer have use for her now living in London.Cash on collection to be picked up from E17 4GN
