HiHere for sale is my vintage Raleigh Flyer. This bicycle was bought for me a while ago by my husband without me being present. The bicycle is a bit too small for him, so he thought it should fit me, so we could ride out together as we both like vintage bikes but my usual town bike is a bit slow for doing any distance with only 3 gears available on it. Unfortunately upon trying this bicycle I found it to be just slightly too tall for me (I’m 158 cm) – I can seat on it fine but having to stop abruptly and swinging my leg over on the road could prove too difficult in an emergency situation, so I didn’t get to use it after all. It has been standing in the loft for approximately 2 years now without seeing any action, so I would like it to find a new home. For some reason the bicycle does not have its Raleigh badge on the front or any decals on the frame, the only real giveaway is the red screw holding the seat tube with a letter ‘R’ and a sticker on the frame that shows the information about the tubing. The bike is in fairly good condition for its age, having only a few rust spots (all pictured). There are some scratches here and there but nothing major and none that require a mention. The bicycle would definitely benefit from a full service to set up brakes/gears to your liking but could be ridden as is.The bicycle features Shimano gear system on the frame and (what I like the most about it) inner cabling. I think these days most higher end bicycles have this set up, so it’s nice to have it on this vintage one too! The frame also has bottle cage mount, it’s also set up with a pannier rack and mudguards. Very useful for transporting stuff around town and for protection from the mud and puddles in the winter months.Overall, this is a nice vintage bicycle that could benefit from some attention and could be an ideal winter time touring/road set up that you wouldn’t be scared of using and abusing daily. Could also be great for commuting (especially around Lancashire) with its drop bars and decent amount of gears for a vintage set up. Basically, leave it as is for a nice vintage look or fully refurbish it, it’s up to you, but it sure would be a nice addition to any collection! Please find below the approximate measurements:Frame (from the seat tube to bottom bracket) – 54.5 cmFrame (from the seat to the handlebars) – 59.5 cmMade in England.Bicycle components:Shimano indexed gear systemSIS Shimano derailleurCustom pedal crank52 chain ringGuaranteed built with high tensile 18-23 controlled carbon cycle tubing, RaleighShimano Light Action Friction SIS Gear ShiftersWeinmann brakesCustom quill stemAlloy Raleigh handlebarsRaleigh England wheels 25-622 (700x25C)Maillard 89 Made in France wheel hubMudguardsPannier RackCollection is from Tonge Moor area, Bolton.
